Two males, ages 18 and 19, were shot in the head while seated inside the vehicle, and a 16-year-old boy who was standing outside and leaning into the vehicle was shot in the face, when the gunfire erupted from inside the vehicle while it was stopped in the 600 block of East 24th Street, according to investigators. Detectives are trying to determine who fired the gunshots while four people, including two of the victims, were inside of it.

A motive in the shooting was unknown Tuesday morning. Information on the conditions of the three victims was not available.

The shooting was reported shortly before 4 p.m. Monday, when police were called to a multiunit residence in the 600 block of East 24th Street. The 16-year-old boy who was shot in the face was taken by EmergyCare to UPMC Hamot, while the two men shot in the head were driven to Saint Vincent Health Center in the vehicle, a Kia, where the shooting occurred, police said Tuesday.

One shell casing was recovered from outside of the vehicle. Police impounded the vehicle at the hospital and plan to search it for evidence.

According to detectives, the vehicle arrived in the 600 block of East 24th Street and stopped, and the 18-year-old male who was shot in the head got into the vehicle there. An argument broke out in the vehicle when one person began firing gunshots, investigators said. Detectives have not determined which of the vehicle’s occupants fired the gun.

Detectives planned to interview neighbors Tuesday while continuing to review surveillance video they obtained.
