A Millcreek Township woman faces a felony child endangerment charge after township police said her 3-year-old child was found wandering several blocks from home on Wednesday morning.

Jessica L. Bowersox, 28, was released on unsecured bond following her arraignment by Greene Township District Judge Susan Strohmeyer Wednesday afternoon on one count of endangering the welfare of children. Millcreek police charge that Bowersox left her child unattended when the child left their residence in the 2900 block of West 11th Street and was found in the area of West 10th Street and Sill Avenue.

According to information in the criminal complaint, a person who knows the child spotted the child with an unknown male and was told by the male that the child was found walking in the roadway. The male said he took custody of the child to prevent the child from being hit by a vehicle, investigators said.

Wednesday’s incident was reportedly the third time the child was found wandering alone, Millcreek police Lt. Mike Little said Thursday. One of the incidents occurred in Millcreek on June 3, when the child was found in the roadway and returned to Bowersox, according to information in the complaint.
