A man suspected of reaching into the bra of a 93-year-old woman in a wheelchair and stealing $600 at a New York City store was arrested early Friday, police told The Huffington Post.

Video of Wednesday afternoon’s theft caused an uproar after it showed the man brazenly walking up to the woman and snatching an envelope with the cash inside.

I was scared. I wasn’t expecting it,” the victim, Maria Vasquez, told The New York Post on Thursday. “He reached over and startled me, yanking the envelope from my bra. He scratched me and took off running. I just screamed, ‘Run, run, he stole my money!’”

Charges against the suspect, identified as Broyoan Lopez, 26, include robbery and grand larceny.

Vasquez told the New York Post she lives a few blocks away from the Harlem store and has been in a wheelchair since suffering a stroke.

Vasquez believes the suspect followed her from the bank, where she cashed a social security check, the New York Daily News reported.

“I use it to pay for everything. Everything I have to pay for,” she told the Daily News. “I need it … because my husband died seven years ago, and I’m alone.”
