An Erie man faces attempted homicide and other charges in an early morning stabbing at an eastside residence on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old man is accused of stabbing his stepfather several times around the face and neck areas during a reported domestic incident at a residence in the 1200 block of East 32nd Street, Erie police Lt. Tony Talarico said. The stabbing was reported shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday, according to Erie County 911.

Officers who responded to the residence to investigate the reported domestic incident found the victim, and while on the scene a neighbor came over to the residence and reported that someone was trying to break into the neighbor’s residence, Talarico said. Officers went to that residence and encountered a white male, later identified as the stabbing suspect, covered in blood, and the officers found a bloody knife that was determined to have been used in the stabbing, he said.

The suspect fought with police while he was being taken into custody, Talarico said.

The suspect faces charges including attempted homicide and aggravated assault in the incident.
