An Erie man accused of throwing bleach in a woman’s face during a confrontation in mid-May is facing trial after the charges filed against him were held for court Wednesday afternoon.

Erie 5th Ward District Judge Paul Bizzarro ordered 54-year-old Willie E. Lucas to face trial on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering, terroristic threats, possessing an instrument of crime and criminal mischief in the May 18 incident following Lucas’ preliminary hearing. Lucas was placed in the Erie County Prison on $250,000 bond after the hearing.

Police accused Lucas of throwing a container of bleach into the face of a woman during a confrontation in the 900 block of East 23rd Street on May 18. The woman told police she had intervened in a dispute between Lucas and her son when Lucas shook a jug containing the liquid and threw the contents into her face, according to information in the criminal complaint.
