NORRISTOWN, PA – A total of nine individuals were arrested overnight Tuesday into Wednesday for domestic violence and not paying child support, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announced.
One of those individuals was from Blue Bell, Montgomery County Sheriff Sean P. Kilkenny said.
The arrests came as part of the 14th Annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail, also known as the “SWEEP.”
“We have a special team of deputies that serve domestic violence related court documents every day,” Kilkenny said. “However, participating in this huge effort, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, helps to bring national awareness and gets violent offenders off the street.”
The national sweep is a collaborative effort, which includes approximately 250 law enforcement agencies in 26 states, to crack down on offenses like harassment, assault, burglary, criminal mischief and criminal mistreatment, Kilkenny said.
If your family law case involves children, we strive to preserve the relationship the child has with both parents, while understanding that there are circumstances when that may not be possible due to violence, drug or alcohol abuse, or mental illness. We are an Erie, PA Family Law firm staffed by caring professionals who are also parents. Putting kids first and getting them onto safe ground while the adults settle their issues is one of our top priorities here at Sebald, Hackwelder, & Knox in Erie, PA. We do not allow our clients to use children as leverage or punishment against the other party in any way. We also do not participate in bringing children to court unless we are ordered by the court to do so.
