A former 911 operator in Houston is facing charges after allegedly admitted she hung up on callers because “she did not want to talk to anyone at that time.”
Creshanda Williams was charged Tuesday with two misdemeanor counts of interfering with an emergency telephone call.
Managers at the emergency center said between October 2015 and March of this year, the 43-year-old Williams was involved in thousands of “short calls,” a term for 911 calls lasting 20 seconds or less, according to Click2Houston.
Investigators said there’s a recording of Williams terminating a call from a security officer trying to report a street racing incident, and then saying “Ain’t nobody got time for this. For real.”
On March 12, one person called 911 twice to report a robbery. The first time, Williams allegedly answered and hung up.
The man called back and a voice identified as Williams responded, “Houston 911, do you need medical, police or fire?”
When the male caller responded, “This is a robbery,” Williams is heard sighing before hanging up, according to court documents obtained by CW39.
By the time police arrived on the scene, a person was dead.
Police said when they questioned Williams about all the hang ups, she allegedlyadmitted to disconnecting the calls because she “did not want to talk to anyone at that time,” according to Fox59.
Not surprisingly, Williams no longer works for the Houston Emergency Center.
She has been charged with two counts of interference with an emergency telephone call, a class A misdemeanor.
