Erie police detectives are interviewing possible witnesses and are looking for evidence including surveillance video in their investigation into a Sunday night shooting that wounded a 23-year-old man.

The victim, whose name was not released by police, was taken to UPMC Hamot and was undergoing surgery Monday morning following the shooting, which happened in the 300 block of East 27th Street and was reported on Sunday at 8:59 p.m., according to Erie police and Erie County 911. Investigators said the man was outside of a residence when he was shot multiple times before he went back inside the residence.
