Two men charged in an incident in which a Pennsylvania State Police corporal was assaulted in Harborcreek Township in November were held for court Wednesday on the criminal charges filed against them.
Jonathan S. Abbey, 29, was held for court on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, and resisting arrest; and Michael P. Abbey, 30, was held for court on a charge of hindering apprehension, following their preliminary hearings before Harborcreek Township District Judge Mark Krahe. The two remain free on bail.
State police filed the charges following an incident at a residence in the 4800 block of East Lake Road on Nov. 11. Troopers said they went to the residence with an arrest warrant for Jonathan Abbey and were told by Michael Abbey that Jonathan Abbey was not there. Troopers spotted Jonathan Abbey on the floor of the residence, and when they were taking him into custody Jonathan Abbey resisted and struck a state police corporal in the chest and attempted to choke him, state police reported.
