Erie police charged a city man with theft, receiving stolen property and driving under the influence after officers said they found him behind the wheel of a stolen car early Sunday morning.

Jerome O. Hardmon, 36, was placed in the Erie County Prison on $25,000 bond after he was arraigned on the charges by Erie 2nd Ward District Judge Paul Urbaniak on Sunday morning.

Erie police charge that officers caught Hardmon driving a 2013 Hyundai Sonata, which was reported stolen, in the 600 block of Parade Street on Sunday at 12:01 a.m., according to information in the criminal complaint. Details on where the car was stolen from were unavailable Sunday afternoon.
