ERIE, Pa. — An Erie man was held for trial Monday on charges of raping and assaulting a woman at a westside residence in late July.

Joseph C. Mullaley, 26, was held for court on charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated assault, unlawful restraint and sexual assault following his preliminary hearing before Erie 3rd Ward District Judge Tom Carney on Monday morning. Mullaley remains in the Erie County Prison on $150,000 bond.

Erie police accused Mullaley of forcing sex on a woman, and punching her in the face and head-butting her, during the July 28 incident. Investigators charged that Mullaley restrained a woman and a child and would not let them leave the residence, according to information in the criminal complaint.
