Cambridge Springs man waives hearing on charges in Erie County robbery spree

A cambridge Springs man accused of robbing three Erie County businesses and attempting to rob a fourth before getting caught following an armed robbery in Ashtabula County, Ohio, in early December is heading to trial after waiving all of the local charges against him to court on Tuesday afternoon.

Brian P. Kelly, 48, waived his preliminary hearings before McKean District Judge Denise Stuck-Lewis on robbery, theft, terroristic threats and related charges in the small crime spree that took place from Dec. 5 to Dec. 7, according to state and local investigators. Kelly remains in the Erie County Prison on $150,000 bond in the three criminal cases that contain the charges in the four incidents.

Kelly is scheduled to return to court in Crawford County on Thursday for a preliminary hearing on a felony theft charge related to the theft of a Ford F-250 from a Cambridge Springs auto repair business on Dec. 5. Investigators charge that Kelly used the stolen truck during the robberies and attempted robbery.

Pennsylvania State Police investigators accuse Kelly of attempting to rob the Circle K on Route 19 in Waterford on the morning of Dec. 5, then using a note to rob the McDonald’s restaurant on Perry Highway in Summit Township of cash a half-hour later.
