EDINBORO — Borough police have charged a former Edinboro University of Pennsylvania student with homicide in the death of one of two fellow students he was accused of shooting in a drug deal gone awry at an off-campus apartment in 2015.

Devin L. Stevenson, 22, was brought before McKean District Judge Denise Stuck-Lewis for arraignment Tuesday morning on new charges, including criminal homicide, and was placed in the Erie County Prison without bond.

Stevenson is charged in the death of O’Shae Imes, then 22, who died in March 2016 in Rochester, New York. Police said Imes was shot in the torso and leg by Stevenson on March 20, 2015, during a confrontation at an off-campus apartment on Meadville Street. Also shot by Stevenson, police charged, was Andrew J. Baker, then 19.

Stevenson was initially charged with offenses including two counts each of attempted homicide and aggravated assault. He was facing trial when Imes died before Erie County prosecutors withdrew the charges in May 2016.

Stevenson told police he fired the gunshots in self-defense because he was being robbed.

Baker, now 22, of Wilmington, Delaware, also faces charges in the incident. Edinboro police filed a felony count of conspiracy to commit robbery against him on July 5.

Baker had not been arraigned on the charge as of Tuesday morning.
