Erie police have charged a teenage boy with robbing a Parade Street store at gunpoint on Sunday night as detectives continue to investigate another Parade Street store robbery earlier that evening.

Domonie K. Dixon, 16, was arraigned Thursday morning by Erie 2nd Ward District Judge Paul Urbaniak on charges of robbery, theft, receiving stolen property, possessing an instrument of crime, possession of a firearm by a minor, recklessly endangering and criminal mischief in the armed robbery of the 9th & Parade Market, 901 Parade St., on Sunday at about 8:10 p.m. Dixon was charged as an adult in the crime under the Fisher Bill, a state law that permits juveniles accused of committing violent crime to be charged as adults.

Urbaniak set Dixon’s bond at $100,000 after the arraignment.

Police charge that Dixon was the male suspect who entered the 9th & Parade Market, pulled out a gun and demanded money from a male employee. Dixon took a few hundred dollars before he attempted to leave the store through the front door, found it locked and fired one shot from the gun into the door, according to investigators. Dixon then fled through a back door.

Surveillance video obtained from the store showed the robber wearing a blue or gray Tommy Hilfiger coat, what appeared to be a neon green scarf and white Jordan shoes, according to police.

Earlier in the day on Sunday, Erie police were sent to a residence in the 200 block of East Seventh Street to take a report on a stolen gun and learned that Dixon might be a suspect in the gun theft, Erie police Detective Craig Stoker wrote in the affidavit of probable cause filed with Dixon’s criminal complaint. Detectives learned that Dixon was last seen wearing a gray Tommy Hilfiger coat, jeans, and white Air Jordans, according to the affidavit.

On Wednesday afternoon, Dixon was reported as a missing juvenile to Erie police, and the person who reported him missing stated that Dixon was last seen late Sunday afternoon, Stoker wrote in the affidavit. Police later spoke to the person who reported the gun stolen, and that person said the male seen in the surveillance video from the 9th & Parade Market looked like Dixon, according to the affidavit.

Investigators learned that Dixon might be staying at a residence on East 28th Street. They went to the residence on Wednesday night and were given consent to search it, and during the search Dixon was found hiding under some clothing in the basement, wearing Air Jordans, according to the affidavit. Police also found a Tommy Hilfiger coat in the basement and a green T-shirt in the kitchen trash can, Stoker wrote in the affidavit.

The gun used in the robbery was not found during the search of the house, investigators said Thursday.

Erie police detectives said Wednesday that they were looking into a possible connection between the 9th & Parade Market robbery and the robbery of the Almadina Supermarket, 2325 Parade St., at about 6:45 p.m. Sunday. A gunman with a mask over his face attempted to rob the store of cash but fled without taking anything when a customer entered the store, according to police.

The investigation into the Almadina Supermarket robbery continued on Thursday. Anyone with information is asked to contact Stoker at 870-1506.
