An Erie man charged with fleeing from a traffic stop in a stolen car that he crashed early Saturday morning is now accused of stealing the car at gunpoint in the city on Friday afternoon.

Depree D. Moss, 18, was arraigned Wednesday morning by Erie 6th Ward District Judge Dominick DiPaolo on charges of robbery of a motor vehicle, conspiracy, possessing instruments of crime, person not to possess a firearm, theft, and terroristic threats in the robbery, which investigators said happened in the 100 block of Walnut Street on Friday at about 3:25 p.m.

Moss is accused of pulling a handgun on a man and robbing the victim of his Toyota Camry rental car, his identification and $210; and robbing another man of an iPhone, Erie police Detective Craig Stoker wrote in the affidavit of probable cause filed with the criminal complaint.

Erie police officers on patrol spotted the Toyota early Saturday morning and attempted to stop it in the 600 block of Brandes Street. The driver, whom police identified as Moss, fled from the traffic stop and traveled south on Brandes Street through four stop signs before losing control of the car at East 12th Street and crashing it through a Penelec guide wire, over a cement barrier and into a fence at Accuride Erie on East 12th Street, according to information in the criminal complaint filed in the pursuit.

Moss and a passenger in the car ran off, but Moss was apprehended minutes later in a wooded area behind a residence in the 1000 block of East 11th Street. He was later arraigned by DiPaolo on charges including receiving stolen property and fleeing police and was placed in the Erie County Prison on $25,000 bond.

Moss was returned to prison on an additional $250,000 bond following his arraignment by DiPaolo on the charges in the robbery case Wednesday morning.

Investigators said Wednesday that they are looking for another suspect in the ongoing robbery probe.
